Hello Sensi-Seeker

5 Weeks of Empath Solutions

Week 3: Resilience & How to Build it

First of all, yes, I know I am late! Ironically enough, the reason is related to the empath challenge discussed today: emotional resilience.

Due to many overwhelming and demanding events going on in my life in the last few weeks, it slipped my mind this commitment and I apologize!

Why Resilience is Important but Hard for Empaths

Emotional resilience, is directly related to our first topic, Emotional Overwhelm, which can be viewed in detail in our blog post titled, "Overwhelming Feelings as an Empath? 3 Easy Solutions".

As mentioned above, over the last few weeks I had to deal with many events/occurrences that were demanding on multiple levels; time, energy, emotions, etc. Just to mention a few of these; I was a maid of honor at a friend's wedding, my children got sick, and family members were moving.

When I have a lot of things pulling at me at once, it not only becomes emotionally overwhelming as mentioned in previous weeks, but it is also hard to BOUNCE BACK from.

The "bounce back" is what resilience is. As empaths, think of it as this: say you have been sick for 2 weeks straight and now you are finally feeling better BUT you still feel incredibly drained. Therefore, it is still hard for you to get back into the "swing" of things.

Being overwhelmed and not having the resilience to bounce back can be extremely destructive for empaths. This can lead us to poor habit cycles such as beating ourselves up, which causes more emotional exhaustion and therefore makes it LESS likely that we do what is needed. We can even neglect things as important as work and family responsibilities.

This is where it can get more detrimental and cause mental health issues such as anxiety disorders and depression. And since the last thing I want is for you or anyone to go through that pain, here are some tools that will hopefully prevent the worst.

How to Build Resilience & Strength so You Can Bounce Back Quicker and More Effectively

1) Put self-care first. When trying to pick yourself back up from an overwhelming experience, when creating your to-do list, put self-care first. Before you do anything, take that bath, go to bed early, meditate, etc. this will help you get the energy you need to continue.

2) Accept your limitations Denying our true nature and trying to be like everyone else, gets us nowhere but downhill. Accept and love yourself fully. There is strength in these "weaknesses". For instance, maybe your children are causing you to be overwhelmed. Instead of getting into fight or flight (which causes outbursts or withdrawal) we can "tune" into our kids more easily than others and know what they truly need. Therefore calming them down much quicker/solving the issue more efficiently.

3) Ignite/ strengthen your confidence by connecting to your intuition: By accepting and loving yourself, you are building confidence which greatly improves your resilience because when life gets you down, you can have the CONFIDENCE to know you can handle it and get stronger. To continue on this path of confidence working on our intuition is KEY.

Intuitive Activities to Strengthen Confidence & Resilience

If you are spiritually inclined, look to these practices for guidance. For instance, when doing your yoga practice, you can integrate some questions and "listen" for the answers.

Maybe a question would be, "What does my body need today to have more energy?"

Another great tool to tap into your intuition is something like tarot cards. I personally like animal cards (as I love nature and animals) and ask a question before you pull the card.

"There is a support system that is always present & has your best interest at heart...it's called your intuition" - Sarah @riseaboveliving

If you are not into spiritual intuitive practices, you can strengthen your intuition through art (ask your body to make a piece of art that answers a question), physical activity like hiking (ask for a "sign", even if you don't believe in them!). Or, receive outside help from a counselor, energy worker, etc. They can help you find practices that allow you to tap into and strengthen your intuition.

For more ideas in these areas, reply to this e-mail I will be able to send you some ways you can connect to your highest self (spiritually and/or psychologically).

We can even work on our intuition through Tapping/EFT (emotional freedom technique), It can help release the "clouds of confusion" so we can see CLEARLY in the eyes of our intuition. Check out our service below:

Hello Sensi-Seeker Overcome Your FEARS Heart Expansion Fear is my Middle Name Some of my earliest memories have been related to fear. I feel like I was born into this world being fearful of basically EVERYTHING. My parents will even tell you I used to hide in the cupboards, closets, and the cubby hole often. School was even a challenge as I dreaded going every day. Finally, in my 20s I discovered this was because of my hyper-sensitivity to everything and my active imagination (picturing...

Hello Sensi-Seeker Receive More Love Heart Expansion My Ah-Ha Moment It is not very usual for me to be out in public on Valentine’s Day but yesterday my husband and I decided to take advantage of a day off while the kids were at school and treat ourselves to brunch. Also, I happen to have to go into the grocery store to get a few things. Being an observant person, I noticed something different. The energy was different, more loving. I am not usually a fan of Valentine’s Day (actually quite...
